Google Play Pass: Save Money on Subscription by Paying Yearly

2019 was a triumphant year for Google, especially in the apps and gaming arena. The corporate giant released Google Stadia and its subscription service. According to the offer that was launched by the company, the users could now purchase a monthly subscription called Google Play Pass for a small amount of $4.99, allowing them to get free access to several apps and games. The idea mirrored the concept used by content streaming companies like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc., and essentially rebranded the way people use the Google Play Store. It is more useful for people who like experimenting with different games and apps on their phones.

Google Play Pass faces a setback due to dull options in apps or games and an abundance of repetition. Developers have also voiced apprehensions that this subscription service mainly promotes addiction loops and grinding. But despite all the mixed reactions by the users, Google still came up with new additions to their service.

People now have an option to ditch the monthly renewed pass and bump-up to a yearly paid subscription. Their annual subscription is $29.99, which cuts the cost by almost 50%. This option is financially very viable for the customers and preferable to the company too. Google also tried to honeypot the potential subscribers by adding 150 titles exclusively for the Google Play Pass customers. Some famous titles in the store are Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Terraria, Golf Peeks, Sesame Workshop, Teslagrad Limbo, and many more.  The pass ensures that the subscribers do not have to face the hassle of popups, advertisements, or purchase further requirements. The people who already have an activated monthly pass can easily access the “Upgrade to a yearly subscription” option visible on the Pass tab.

Play Pass is also launching in countries like Germany, Ireland, Italy, United Kingdom, Australia, Spain, Canada, and New Zealand as a trial. To access Google’s new services, you just need to follow some easy steps. Before getting started, ensure that you live in one of the countries where Google Play Pass has been made available. Once that is assured, check the Play Store to ensure that your phone has a 16.6.25 version or above. The Android version also needs to be above version 4.4. If you were able to tick all these boxes, simply go to the Play Store, open the menu, and search for “Play Pass.” An opportunity is presented to the users to avail of 30 days of free service. The Pass subscribers receive intuitive suggestions by the app based on the previous selections of the individual.

When you wish to download an app or game that is also a part of the Google Play Pass service, the Play Store gives a notification and allows the user to subscribe to pass service if they have not done so yet. You can easily recognize if a game is part of the pass list by the Play Pass icon placed next to the app names. The new service and the reasonable prices of the Google Play Pass may encourage users to explore new apps on their phones.
